Anthony Mounier

Anthony Mounier, a professional footballer with Olympique Lyonnais, just like Miralem Pjanic, plays as a forward. Anthony Mounier has given us this exclusive interview and speaks to us about his professional career and the world of gaming. This interview took place before the 32nd day of the French championship (editor's note).

Casinoweb: Hello Anthony, thank you from Casinoweb for granting us an exclusive interview. Tell us about your professional career and your recruitment to Olympique Lyonnais.

Anthony Mounier: I was living in a little village in the Drome, near Valence and I joined the training centre in Lyon at the age of 11. To join Olympique Lyonnais, I went through several  selection rounds until the final round when the club said it wanted me to join the following season. I  progressed through all the grades until I became a professional footballer with Olympique Lyonnais.

Casinoweb: When you started how was your welcome from the other players?

Anthony Mounier: There's a very good atmosphere in the locker rooms so I very quickly found my place within the group. The older players are very close to the players who join the professional group.

Casinoweb:  As a boy, which major football teams made you dream? Is there one or more players, who made you want to become a footballer as a child?

Anthony Mounier: I've supported Olympique Lyonnais  since I was very young but I never had one club that made me dream more than another. However one of the players, who impressed me when I was young was Zinedine Zidane during the 1998 world cup. On the other hand I never had a particular idol and never watched videos of one player or another.

Casinoweb:  And to-day? Which player is a role model for you?

Anthony Mounier: To-day, players like Messi and Ribery since their way of  playing is similar to mine. I look at what they do and I look at the way they position themselves or use good techniques and  am inspired.

Casinoweb: How is the team's morale after the defeat by Barca?

Anthony Mounier: It was hard to take but we are competitive and we must concentrate well on the championship to win this 8th title.

Casinoweb: The competition for the 8th consecutive title is going to be more complicated than in previous years. How is the team's spirit?

Anthony Mounier: The championship has been completely opened up, Marseille is in first place. There are seven matches left and we're going to play direct adversaries like Bordeaux and Paris St. Germain and after that we'll go to Marseille two days before the end. Everything has opened up and Lyon isn't ahead by several points like in previous years. In the locker room we always concentrate and we are single minded about getting this eight title.

Casinoweb: What are your pastimes when you're not playing football?

Anthony Mounier: I like to walk around town and to go to the cinema.

Casinoweb: Let's talk about casinos and poker. The city of Lyon has two casinos: The Pharaon and the Lyon Vert. Do you like casino games (slot machines, Baccarat, Blackjack, video poker)?

Anthony Mounier: I'm not a great casino player, I've gone to them two or three times mainly to play the slot machines.

Casinoweb : Poker is phenominally successful everywhere in the world especially in France. Do you ever play it with friends or other footballers? ( when you are returning from a match in the bus or plane etc?)

Anthony Mounier: Certain players like poker and go, from time to time, to a casino. I sometimes have a good evening playing poker with friends.

Casinoweb: This year the online games market will open up to French players. In short, an internet user in France can legally bet on a sports betting site, play poker online or go into an online casino. What do you think of this? Would you be prepared to play poker, for example on the internet on a site which has obtained a French gaming licence?

Anthony Mounier: I think that could be a good thing but I think there's nothing better than meeting friends around a gaming table so that it's more realistic. Maybe I'll register with one of these sites ( online gaming, editor's note) to play and pass the time when I'm resting.
