Estonia opens up its online cash gaming market

Okay, you'll tell me that it's not an enormous nation with hundreds of millions of souls, with economic influence and / or diplomatic importance. But all the same when a country which is a member of the European Union decides to open up its gaming and betting market, it is necessary and at the very least interesting to bring it up, to study it and to share it with all of our regular readers.

Well, now that that has been said we can start. Estonia, a small Baltic state, has just decided to open up its gaming and betting market to competition and has done this, believe it or not, to try to ease the painful recession being gone through by this European state which was formerly under soviet domination.

Yes, the financial and economic crisis has badly hit this small Baltic state causing its gross domestic product to fall by 30 points in just one short year. So that is the reason why the country's fiscal authorities encouraged the government to legalise and regulate online cash games and bets in order to ensure a worthwhile fiscal income. In fact, not only will the real gaming market be opened up to competition but also the Estonian online market. Bwin, Betclic, Chili, Casino Tropez and Titan will be delighted while also paying enormous taxes. The Estonians will soon be able to legally play on these operators' sites who will none the less have to open a base in Estonia.

These operators are already in the starting blocks at least for the most part because some have already cleared off. Starting with Playtech which has joined with the European giant Olympic Entertainment Group to offer Estonians its services. But for the boss of the game editor, Mor Weizer, it's the first stage in ensuring Playtech's implantation in the whole of the countries in central and eastern Europe.

So Estonia has come to join other European neighbours in legalising its gaming and betting market such as Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Poland and the Netherlands.
