WSOP 2009: Joe Cada becomes a legend

At only 21 years of age, the american Joe Cada got rid of his compatriot Darvin Moon during the final of the Main Event of the WSOP 2009. Pocketing a sum of over 8.5 million dollars (more than 2.5 million euros) that is 3.5 million more than his runner up, Joe Cada became part of  WSOP history. In fact not only has this american become part of WSOP history for having won it but also for having been the youngest winner of all time (Peter Eastgate was 22 for his WSOP victory in 2008, editor's note)! Starting off favourite thanks to a much larger baize than his adversary, Darvin Moon thought he'd have the upper hand on Cada. But in poker everything is possible. After a testing time of over two hours, Joe Cada was named the best player in the world thanks to a pair of nines which beat Moon's Jack Queen.

Once more poker proves that nothing is certain until the last card and that surprises can happen at any point in the game. Joe Cada was able to turn the situation around as the game went on and was able to gain an advantage over his adversary who had a serious advantage as regards chips since the beginning of the game (135  950 000 against 58 850000). However the young american Cada's talent turned the situation around and finished by overcoming his adversary.

This 2009 WSOP revealed talent in particular this young winner who has just won the most sought after in the world gold bracelet inscribed with World Series of Poker 2009. The frenchman Antoine Saout has had an exceptional career and just missed the podium by finishing in third place. One should hear more of this young 25 year old breton in the future and there is a strong chance that this experience in the greatest poker tournament in the world will help him to progress even more and to find his place among the greatest players.

The 2009 WSOP is over and the next season is under way with qualification tournaments already available on the net. The 2008 WSOP was won by a young man of 22, that of 2009 by a “boy” of 21. Will the WSOP 2010 winner be even younger? To be continued...
