Many bookmakers including William Hill have benefitted from better betting results in the new football season after unfavourable results in the last quarter. William Hill Online, the online gaming site belonging to Willliam Hill has has good sports betting results recently. Results in both football and horseracing returned to previous levels in September having been weaker over the summer months. In - shop betting decreased less than over the previous six months and there was a rise of 4% in income from gaming machines.

To save money William Hill states that shifting its online sportsbetting and online gaming to Gibraltar from the UK is part of its cost- cutting inovations. This will save several million euro per annum.

William Hill Online's income increased by over 50% in the first three months of the year. Sportsbetting income fell by over one third over the same period. Overall William Hill online registered an income margin that was over 50 percent lower than that of 2008.

There has been an almost 100% increase in income from online casino games as had been projected by the directors of William Hill Online. This was partly due to William Hill Online moving to the Playtech platform. The newly updated Playtech based online casino will be launched at the end of October.
