Online casinos: Partygaming has its eye on Unibet
If you like it's as if Coca Cola bought Pepsi, Renault had an eye on Peugeot, Durex on Manix, Pampers on Huggies and to finish Dragon Ball on the Knights of the Zodiac. It seems impossible on paper and yet Partygaming, the in vogue group, has an eye in an open fashion on Unibet. In the case of a union, no doubt about it, Party would become the largest of the internet gaming and betting operators.
Return to a rumour which appears to be based on real elements. Certain doubtful rumours are circulating about Partygaming wanting to buy Unibet. And if no official declaration has neither confirmed nor denied this information, Petter Nylander, the Director General of Unibet has in fact declared last week that a possible buy out of his group by Party Gaming depends for the major part on the nature of the offer from the latter, which has just carried out two juicy deals, starting with buying Cashcade and the World Poker Tour (Online poker : WPT in the hands of Partygaming), taken from under Titan Poker and Playtech. On the Party Gaming side, Jim Rian, Director of Partygaming, recently stated that his group mostly needed acquisitions in the area of sport to strengthen itself in this area which isn't really the preference of the participants in Party. Also according to the management of the British group, analyists had started to search for possible targets and many conclusions led quite naturally to Unibet.
Nothing is being done for the moment. If it is true that Partygaming has more than enticing means, it's not the 13 million euros spent to buy the WPT which could win over the Unibet big names. Bwin put more than 50 million euros in cash on the table last week to buy Gocca Digitale , it seems that if Party intends buying Unibet one needs to talk of several hundred million euros. To be definitely continued...
