The Olympique Lyonnais club was in Anderlecht and easily won with a magnificent Lisandro Lopez who scored three goals. In fact Jean Michel Aulas' players were able to wear their jerseys marked with the Betclic logo, a logo which is controversial on French pitches but not in other countries. The seven times French champions must wait until sometime in 2010 to run onto the pitch with the Betclic brand, whose speciality is sport betting on the internet, on their chest. Also present in the areas of online casinos and poker, Betclic remains a major player in sport betting and is serious competition for sites like Bwin or Sportingbet but above all for the Francaise des Jeux which makes bets on football matches and other sports available to players. Besides, according to present French law, only the PMU and Francaise des Jeux sites are permitted to offer online betting whether it is horse racing and sport betting or any other games of chance. As for sites like Zeturf, Betclic, Bwin and hundreds ( if not thousands, editor's note) of other online casino sites, poker, horse racing or sport betting, are considered to be illegal. However, France is waiting with its arms crossed and can't do anything legally because many sites have European gaming licences notably from Malta. This licence should be taken into account when the Regulatory Authority for Online Gaming (ARJEL) deals with the candidacy files of the numerous applicants for the French gaming licence. It is already known that the main names in casinos like Joagroup, which has just acquired the Playtech software for its online gaming site ( and FullSix for marketing, editor's note) should easily get the French gaming licence. Other sites should also figure on the list of authorised sites like the Barriere group or Partouche without forgetting the strategic alliances like the Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) with Mangas Gaming, Chiligaming with the telecom operator Free or  the ex number one in TF1, Patrick Le Lay's company specialising in sport betting.

The Olympique Lyonnais players were able to act as pull-outs for the online gaming company Betclic on a Belgian pitch and will have to wait several weeks before revisiting a foreign pitch wearing the same colours. The UEFA has authorised the OL to wear the jersey with the Betclic logo in  Belgium. In the meantime, Aulas' team's jerseys will remain blank on French pitches while waiting for the online gaming market to open up in a few months.
