JoaRoyale Poker Tour: a tournament unlike the rest

Poker has met with unprecedented popularity in France over the past few years and actual casinos are riding this wave to attract players into their establishments. One knows about the Partouche Poker Tour which was very popular last year ( and which continues to attract as many players, editor's note), the Barriere Poker Tour which is also a prestigious tournament and the JoaRoyale Poker Tour which ended on the 27th of June in the Joacasino La Siesta in Antibes. Before returning to this final, we'll speak about the originality of the JoaRoyale Poker Tour. Unlike many tournaments, players cannot buy their place at the final table and must pass through the qualification stages. Also, the “Five-to-ten” games started as soon as five players were at a table which could accept up to ten players. The real original point of this tournament is the “King's Challenge” which is exclusive to the JoaRoyale Poker Tour, which is a tournament within the tournament, which allows the best of the eliminated players access to a monthly final.

The JoaRoyale Poker Tour took place in three phases:

- from the 6th of July 2008 to the 24th of May 2009: Qualification phase: one tournament each month ( qualifying rounds the first 3 Sundays and the final the 4th Sunday)
- from the 12-14 th June 2009: Finals phase. They involved all the winners of the monthly tournaments and enabled the selection of the 10 best players who took part in the Grand Final.
- the 27th of June 2009: The Grand Final. Ten finalists met in the Joacasino La Siesta in Antibes.

On the 27th of June, 26 year old Sebastien Chevillet, walked away with the sum of 100,000 euros, a two week, all expenses paid stay for two in Las Vegas and a $10,000 buy-in to participate in the World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas. He also won a personalised armchair “The Ace of Aces of the JOAROYALE POKER TOUR”. The runner up in this prestigious tournament is known by the nickname of “Loubaoudou” and received a cheque for 20,000 euros, a week's holiday for two in Monaco (all expenses paid, editor's note) and a 10,000€ buy-in for the Monaco European Poker Tour Main Event. He also won a “Second Ace” shirt. The third place winner whose pseudonyme is “Big Boss” is 29 years old and won a cheque for 10,000 euros, a week's holiday for two in Barcelona as well as a 8,000€ buy-in to participate in the Barcelona European Open Poker Tour and a “Third Ace” shirt.

The JoaRoyale Poker Tour took place in the JOACASINOS in Antibes, Aix-les-Thermes, Canet Plage, Etretat, Sables d'Olonne, Luxeuil-les-Bains, Montrond-les-Bains, Saint- Paul- les-Dax, Santeney and Uriage and attracted thousands of players. The success of this poker tournament has once again proven that poker fans will attend this type of event and arrive en masse to fulfill their passion for Texas Hold'em poker and to try to win attractive prizes. The Joa group has made poker its main interest and is constantly innovating ( see the article “New from Joagroup: Texas hold'em poker cumulative jackpot”). Every poker player dreams of sitting, even if only once in a lifetime, at a poker table in a poker tournament such as the WSOP or the EPT and of coming up against players from all over the world, showbiz stars, or professional players for whom bluffing holds no secret.

The Joacasinos group offers the oppportunity to win one's place in one of these prestigious tournaments and the three finalists will mix with the big names. What if the JoaRoyale Poker Tour 2009 champion, Sebastien Chevillet, was the future Bertrand Grospellier “Elky”. We'll meet you again in a year's time, at the 2010 WSOP in Las Vegas, to have the answer. To be continued...
