Montreux Casino: she bet 10 cents and walked away with 262,000 euros

Once again Switzerland is being mentioned by Casinoweb.org. Not dealing with the theme of poker  as we did in our columns this morning (see the article “Poker: a bad hand for the Swiss casinos”) but to talk of the  fabulous luck of a slot machine player. Slot machines are games that are 100% based on luck and don't require any specific intellectual capacity. One just has to put in one to three tokens, pull an arm ( or press a button) to activate the movement of the rollers and wait until the rollers stop on one of the many winning combinations. Montreux casino was the setting for a super jackpot won on a low denomination slot machine, that is 10 swiss cents ( 0.6 euros, editor's note). In fact a regular Montreux casino player won the sum of 262,000 euros by winning a cumulative jackpot “Crazy Jackpot” on a slot machine. Once the combination was revealed, the machine went mad and sirens sounded to announce the fact that an exceptional event had happened in the establishment managed by the Barriere group. To mark the occasion, the casino director opened champagne to celebrate and the players in the room were able to celebrate this unforgettable moment for the fifty year old winner who won't forget this special day.

The crazy jackpot is a cumulative jackpot that links 358 slot machines. Since January 2009, three people have won the jackpot but the third was the largest win. One has to go back to the 12th of January 2009 when the first “Crazy Jackpot” jackpot of the year was won ( 135,000 euros) then the 3rd of March when the winner walked away with 128,000 euros. Cumulative jackpots are very attractive games for players due to their simplicity, the fun element and the fantastic winnings which can be won by players. The Partouche group has made it its favourite game by launching the  Partouche Megapot last December and two players, one in Palavas-les-Flots and another in Annemasse casino have become millionaires. In fact the first winner of the Partouche Megapot won 2 million euros and the second winner in Annemasse walked away with a cheque for more than 3.3 million euros ( see the article “Partouche Megapot: jackpot won in Annemasse casino”).

Low bet slot machines are very popular in times of economic crisis. The players who go to a casino want value for their money and want to extend their playing time. The “Crazy Jackpot” has proved that it is possible to link low betting entertainment with the possibility of winning large sums. But it is all a question of luck.... and chance can do many things.
